I've tried using the Wired Xbox 360 Controller plugged directly into the Steam Link, but that doesn't seem to work either. I've been trying to get Deadly Premonition to work over Steam Link but it doesn't find my controller. I press Up and Down on the Right Control Stick to look Left and Right. However, the controller axis is all wrong. When I'm playing deadly premonition at my PC, I've been able to use a wired Xbox 360 Controller.
